MAY 1 — Alice Mae Robinson
Burks, 61, went home to be
with the Lord on Sunday, April
29, 2012. She was born in Prince
Edward County at Southside
Community Hospital on June 18,
1950, to the late Bert Samuel
Robinson and Mary Lou Grindstaff
Robinson.
She was saved and baptized in
the Cartersville Baptist Church in
Cartersville. After accepting
Christ as Savior, she joined the
Reverend Dean Farmer’s church
and became a member of Cumberland
Baptist Temple in Cumberland.
Mrs. Burks is survived by her
mother, Mary Lou Grindstaff
Robinson of Travelers Rest,
South Carolina; three brothers,
Clark Robinson and wife, Terri of
Travelers Rest, South Carolina,
Harold Dale Robinson and wife,
Brenda of Pamplin, and Mack
Hamilton Robinson Sr. of Cartersville;
ten nieces and nephews,
Robbie Robinson, Kristy Robinson
Babcock, Traci Hamilton,
Angela Robinson Camp, Brock
Robinson, Stacey Kinder, Kim
Boettcher, Little Mack Hamilton
Robinson Jr., Lisa Robinson Allen,
and Gayle Page Robinson
Leonard; 19 great nieces and
nephews, Cora Grey Robinson,
Joshua Babcock, Jacob Babcock,
Julieanne Babcock, Kye Hamilton
Latham, Auden Brock Robinson,
Trevor Camp, Jalynn Camp,
Caleb Dale Camp, Brooklynn
Camp, Summer Boettcher,
Kaleigh Boettcher, Mark
Boettcher, Alexis Dewberry,
Madison Dewberry, Logan Allen,
Shane Allen, Hope Greyson
Robinson and Hunter Gilliam.
She is also survived by her former
husband and friend, Roy
Burks of Farmville; two former
sisters-in-law and close friends,
Janet Whitehead Robinson
Magruder and Virginia Ayers
Robinson; and four aunts and
uncles, D.S. and Viola Grindstaff
of Green Bay, Dallas Robinson
and Darlene Robinson, both of
Salem, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by
her daddy, Bert Samuel Robinson
in 2010, paternal grandfather,
William Hamilton Robinson in
1958, paternal grandmother,
Mary Alice Stout Robinson in
1938, and maternal grandmother,
Ella Mae Stout Grindstaff
(Memmie) in 1997.
Mrs. Burks enjoyed the simple
things of life. She found pleasure
in socializing, shopping, eating at
her favorite restaurants, talking
on the phone, and she especially
loved decorating for the holidays.
She had a heart of gold and she
had such deep devotion to her
family.
She was a sweet, kind, and
tenderhearted person who never
met a stranger and will be greatly
missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends
at Shorter's Funeral Home on
Wednesday, May 2, from 10 a.m.
to 12 p.m. The graveside service
will take place immediately following
the visitation at Trinity
Memorial Gardens in Rice at
12:30 p.m.
