Malcolm Thomas Cash, 88 of Rice, VA passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 with his stepson William by his side and his little dog “Chico” on his lap.

Malcolm was born September 23, 1930, son of the late Charles Elmer Cash and Helen Wilkerson Cash in Lynchburg, VA. At the early age of 7, he professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Choir member. He also traveled on several church missions to natural disaster arears including Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida. He was married to Dreena Mann Cash on October 26, 2001. Mr. Cash served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 7059. During his long life he had been active in several civic organizations including Ruritans, the Moose Lodge and Heart of Virginia Good Sams Club. Malcolm wore many hats during his life and could outwork three men half his age well into his 80’s. Starting as a cook in the US Army, he went to work on the pipeline and as an electrical lineman, laying some of the first power lines in rural Virginia. In addition, he worked as a sewing machine mechanic, farmer in the poultry industry for over 45 years. Malcolm loved Blue Grass music, playing the trombone, guitar and dobro. He enjoyed camping, fishing, travel and his favorite past time was NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Covington Cash, three brothers; Kenneth, Maury, Ronald, one sister Heilous and one beloved grandson Christopher.

Malcolm is survived by his wife Dreena Mann Cash, one brother Carl Cash, two sisters Kathleen McGinnis and Nancy Elder.

He had two sons; Michael, Ronnie Cash (Debbie) and a step son William Bush.

There are four grandchildren; Becky, Ronnie, Cecil (Kristy), Ray (Kathy) along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:00PM followed by a graveside service at Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Malcolm had a wonderful life, he will be cherished and missed by his family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
