She married her husband Bernard A. Slayton and together raised 5 children. She is survived by her children: Laura Slayton Mann (Melvin) of Forest, VA, Bonnie Slayton Trenum (Bud) of Warrenton, VA, James Slayton of Lynchburg, VA, Linda Slayton Jackson (Christopher) of Fayetteville, NC, a brother William Dickerson (Edna) of Pamplin, VA, nephew, Gary Dickerson also of Pamplin, a daughter in law Teresa Slayton of Farmville, 15 grandchildren: Melanie (Will), Melissa (Gary), Megan (Mike) Christiana (Dustin), Will (Basia), Nick, John, Evan (Lauren), Audrey (Daniel), Lindsey, Kaylie, Heather (JT), Matthew (Lisa), Chad (Lauryn), Erin and 14.5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Danny Slayton.

The family would like to express a thank you to Runk & Pratt on Leesville Road in Lynchburg for the wonderful care given by the staff.

My condolence to the family. May you find peace in the hope that Jesus set out for us at John 5:28,29 of the resurrection. Revelations 21:4 says death will be no more. May the memories of the good times and the scripture comfort you at this time.
