Anne Carol McKay Barton, 80, of Green Bay, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity that touched everyone who knew her. Born on May 14, 1945, in Farmville, Virginia, Anne was the daughter of the late Raynard and Audrey McKay. Anne worked over 45 years as a cosmetologist in Farmville and later from her home in Green Bay. In her later years, she joined Southern Sassy, where she was warmly embraced and quickly became a cherished member of the family. Anne had a remarkable gift for helping others feel beautiful and confident. Her work was never just about hair, it was about people. Those who sat in her chair were met with her kindness, her laughter, and her ability to truly listen. She created a space where clients felt seen and cared for, and many lasting friendships were formed. Her warmth made every visit feel special, and she touched countless lives through her gentle spirit and genuine heart. In addition, to her career, Anne shared her love of music as a gospel singer. She alongside her brother was part of True Faith, lifting others through her voice. One of her happy places was the lake, where she spent many days with family and friends, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Barton; brother, Bernard McKay (Ann); her children, Raynard E. McGuinn-Jones (Zachary), Glenda Darrell (Jay), and Michael Barton (Crystal); her granddaughters, Autumn Dickerson (Matt), and Raegan and Kamryn Barton; great-grandchildren, Hayley, Lauren and Dawson Dickerson. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jerolene Jennings (Willie); and her brothers Curtis McKay (Nancy) and Charles McKay (Patsy). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meherrin Fire & Rescue or Douglas Presbyterian Church.
