Bertha Hedgepeth

Bertha Selina Hedgepeth, 87 of Buckingham County passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in Richmond.

Born in Buckingham County, February 29, 1924 to the late William Harvey and Martha McLane Crump and was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Hedgepeth, six brothers: Charles Crump, Hayden Crump, James Crump, John Crump, Ray Crump and William Crump and one sister, Wilma Dickenson.

She was a homemaker and member of Concord Baptist Church. Mrs. Hedgepeth's life was her family and she also loved flowers and dancing.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Nelson and fiance, Gene Benson of New York, her grandchildren, Nancy Oliver and husband, Jimmy of Doswell and Chad Edwards of Pittsburgh, PA, her great-grandchildren, Dallas Edwards, Jr. and fiance, Cierra of Amelia, Megan Edwards of Midlothian and Joshua Oliver of Doswell, her brothers, Joe Crump of Buckingham and Dewey Crump and wife, Linda of Buckingham and her sister-in-law, Jean Crump of Buckingham. She is also survived by her special niece, Phyllis Cumbie and husband, Henry of Buckingham and her dear friend, Bob Vance of Chesterfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Concord Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
