Charles Shorter, Jr

Charles Russell Shorter, Jr. Age 78 of Farmville, VA passed away Wednesday November 25, 2009 in Farmville. He was a 1965 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and the owner of The Shorter Funeral Home. He was a charter member of the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, A member of; The Independent Order of the Odd Fellows 290 Farmville, VA, Farmville Lions Club and Madisonville Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his sisters; Mary Shorter Lee of Farmville, VA; Kathleen Shorter Jacobs of Appomattox, VA; Georgianna Shorter Covington of Pamplin, VA; his step-son William P. Thompson II of Huntersville, NC two step-granddaughters; his two nieces; three nephews; four great-nieces; two great-nephews; two great-great nephews; and his beloved pet Queen. The family will receive friends Saturday 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 9 PM at the Shorter Funeral Home 1905 S. Main Street Farmville, VA and where funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday November 29, 2009 in the chapel. Entombment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens Rice, VA.
