Clyde Ownby

Clyde Ownby, 96 of Cumberland, VA went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 22, 2016.

Clyde was preceded in death by his father, John L. Ownby, mother, Pearl W. Ownby, brothers, Fred Ownby, Gene Ownby and Gordon Ownby.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lavern Whaley Ownby a son, Clyde Carlton Ownby, a daughter in law, Mary Ownby and a granddaughter, Jessica Ownby.

Also survived by a brother, John L. Ownby Jr of Cumberland VA, sister, Mildred Craddock of Washington, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Keysville and the staff of Centra Southside Hospital for all the care they provided.

Family will receive friends from 6:30PM – 8:00PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Shorter Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Jones Chapel Baptist Church, Cumberland, VA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jones Chapel Baptist Church.
