David Hamby

Mr. David Allen Hamby, 50, of Cumberland, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 in Richmond.

David was born in Farmville, May 9, 1959. A licensed plumber and electrician, he was employed with Cumberland Building Supply. He was also a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Cumberland.

In addition to his father, Graham G. Hamby, Sr., he was preceded in death by his brother Graham G. Hamby, Jr. and sister, Brenda Ann Hamby.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Lorraine Leonard Hamby, his mother, Betty Ann Owens Hamby, four children: David Louis Hamby and wife, Amanda , Russell Graham Hamby, Daphne Jeanette Hamby and her fiance', David Williams and Kevin Tyler Hamby all of Cumberland, two sisters, Ellen Morgan and husband, Lundy of Buckingham and Vickie Atkins and husband, Tommy of Burkeville, six grandchildren: MaCayla Hamby, Gabriel Hamby, Dakota Hamby, Sierra Hamby, Russell Graham Hamby, Jr. and Erica Lorraine Williams. He is also survived by his in-laws, Louis and Janet Leonard of Cumberland, two nephews, Tinker Atkins and Ernie Atkins of Burkeville, and two nieces, April Jamerson of Burkeville and Crystal Jamerson, of Cumberland.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 in the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Cumberland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
