Fred "Ted" Coleman Layne Sr

Fred Coleman Layne Sr, “Ted” November 13, 1939 – April 4, 2024.

Fred “Ted” Layne, 84 of Farmville, VA went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family and Pastor. He was preceded in death by his parents Spencer Hatcher Layne Sr and Marion Allen Layne. He was the founder and owner of Longwood Well Drilling Company for over 48 years.

He was a hard worker, a man who loved his family, his Lord and his church. He served as a Deacon for many years at Spring Creek Baptist Church and was a member of the choir.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgie Beasley Layne. He is also survived by his children; Delores Wood (Brian), Connie L. Rowan (Jeff), Fred C. Layne Jr (Holly), 6 grandsons, 3 great grandson’s, 2 great granddaughters 2 sisters Gloria Adams (Kendall), Roberta Willis (Charlie), 1 brother Norman Layne (Ida), 2 sisters-in-law Linda Layne, Agnes Layne and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are 10 brothers; Spencer, Alvin, Elbert, Oliver, Carol, Ed, Floyd, Billy, Monroe, Nelson and 3 sisters; Virginia Frangowlakis, Florence Pierce and Ruth Ferguson.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 3:00PM in Spring Creek Baptist Church. A visitation will start 1 hour prior at 2:00PM. Interment will follow service in the Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
