Grover Barr

Grover Wilson Barr, 84 of Farmville passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Farmville.  He was born July 4, 1928 to the late William C. and Rutha Moore Barr.  He was the husband of Louise Barr.  Mr. Barr retired after 48 years of service from Farmville Iron and Metal.  Grover loved fishing and anything mechanical;  he was a real “Jack of all trades”.  His family was the most important and he loved spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise; his children, Lin Barr of Lynchburg,  John Barr (Sharon) of Franktown, VA,  Donna Hatfield (Denny) of Richmond,  Ronna Dickerson (Mike) of Kilmarnock, VA, Terri Johnson (Michael) of Farmville, Frances Hallinen of Rice, Tammy Southall (Mark) of Farmville and Laurie Covington (Scott) also of Farmville, his 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his 7 siblings; Grover was the last of the 8 children.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 2:00pm at Concord Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 7:00-8:30pm at the Shorter Funeral Home.
