James "Jimmy" Dexter Womack

James “Jimmy” Dexter Womack of Farmville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026. He was born on February 8, 1960.

He was the son of the late Jack N. Womack Sr. and Estelle Womack.

Jimmy had a big heart and enjoyed spending time with his sons and the people he loved. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan and had a passion for baseball, having been a talented baseball player in his younger years. He will be remembered for his love of family, his friendships, and the big heart he shared with those around him. Jimmy formerly worked at Flameless Specialties and at his family’s restaurant, The Steer.

He is survived by his two sons, Jamie B. Womack and his wife, Alana, and Justin D. Womack and his wife, Kara; his sister Judy Thorne and her husband, Dennis Thorne; and a longtime friend, David Stonnel. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jacky Womack, and his sister, Diane Bailey. 

A memorial service will be held at Shorter Funeral Home on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward County Rescue Squad or to a charity of your choice.
