Jerry Runion

September 8, 1948 — June 29, 2017

Jerry Conrad Runion, devoted and caring husband to Rachel N Runion, peacefully went home to be with his Lord while at home surrounded by family on June 29, 2017. Born in Tennessee on September 8, 1948, Jerry served in the US Army during Vietnam as a Sky Soldier with the 173rd Airborne Brigade earning the Bronze Star.  He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and a successful businessman.  More than anything else, he was fiercely loyal to his family especially his beloved wife, Rachel.  She was truly the love of his life. He will be remembered as a brilliant man who could do just about anything and do it well.  Leaving a legacy of true humility, unwavering honesty and an unshakable can-do attitude, he will be missed beyond the ability of words to describe.  In addition to his wife, those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Angie (Larry) Landis of Rice; son Ward Runion of Prospect; grandchildren Danielle Runion of Charlotte Co, Kohen Landis of Camp LeJeune, NC and Macon Conrad Landis of Rice; sisters Roberta Foster (Shelton) of Farmville and Betty Vanderpool of Farmville; brothers Hobert Runion of Blackstone and Guy Runion of Pittsburgh PA; great-grandchildren Hannah and Autumn Rundstrom and many loving relatives and friends.  A private service was held July 1st. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America. Shorter Funeral Home was serving the family.
