Joel Moore

June 5, 1943 — September 24, 2013

Mr. Joel Cephas Moore, 70 of Waynesboro passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.  He was born June 5, 1943 in Wise County, VA to the late Cecil and Hattie Chester Moore of Farmville, VA.  He was the grandson of the late William and Adeline Mullins Moore of Pound, VA and Sarah Hollar and Amon Chester.  Also preceding Joel in death were his siblings, Mary, Lois and Thomas.

He is survived by his siblings, Faye Heflin (James), Georgia Taylor (Robert Sr.), Alphie Arnold (James), Lonnie Moore (Joyce), Joseph Moore, Bobby Moore, Ruby Pruitt (Louis) and David Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and enjoyed listening to him play the guitar and sing his favorite song “I saw the light”.  Joel leaves his family and friends with many precious memories.  He is resting peacefully in eternal life with his Dr. Jesus.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 2:00pm at the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens.  Family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home in memory of Joel to help the family with expenses.  Shorter Funeral Home is serving the family.
