John Witt

John Allen Witt, 69, of Farmville passed away Friday, January 17, 2014.  He worked at Longwood University Golf Course for 32 years and he was a lifetime member of the Farmville Volunteer Fire Department after more than 20 years as an active firefighter.

He is survived by his daughter Alana Witt and her fiancé Walter Webster of Hampden-Sydney, sister Debbie F. Witt of Farmville, brother Jerry W. Witt and his wife Sandra of Buckingham, niece Tabbies K. Witt of Farmville, sister in law Lois Witt of Danville, and his faithful canine companions Buddy Bear and Hardy (Tinkpot). He is preceded in death by his parents Archie R. Witt and Doris Mason Witt and his brother Roy Witt.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2013 from 11:00a.m. until 12:30p.m. at Shorters Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 1:00pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens.  Donations In honor of Mr. Witt can be made to the Farmville Volunteer Fire Department and Prince Edward Rescue Squad.
