John Herron

John Milton Herron, of Dillwyn, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2009 in his home. He was the husband of Sharon D. Herron.

Born in Norfolk, June 15, 1948, John was the son of the late Eugene G. and Vea M. Herron. He was a retired US Navy veteran and a retired prison guard with the Illinois Sate Prison System.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Ralph Herron and wife, Carmen of Raleigh, NC and Danny Herron and wife Linda of Chesapeake. Also surviving are three nieces, one nephew and one great-nephew.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2009 in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Buckingham Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday at the funeral home.
