Louise Farley

October 25, 1919 — December 23, 2009

Louise Vick Farley, age 90, of Farmville and Rice, went to be with the Lord, December 23, 2009. She was the wife of Winston Farley and daughter of the late William H. and Fannie Davis Vick.

Mrs. Farley was born October 25, 1919 in Southampton County. She attended State Teachers College, now Longwood University, and taught in the Rice Elementary School. In 1978 she became Manager of the Trear's Store where she remained until she retired in 1988. Mrs. Farley attended Pisgah Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many positions.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry, Leon, and Gilbert Vick and one sister, Marion Miller Fahrner.

She is survived by two sons: William H. Farley and wife Carolyn of Altavista and Robert E. Farley and wife Deborah of Smith Mt. Lake, Moneta, three grandchildren: Jennifer Farley Purvis and husband Gary of Roanoke, Kimberly Farley Hancock and husband Greg of Roanoke and David Farley of Altavista, three great-grandchildren: Tyler Purvis and Justin Purvis of Roanoke and Sydney Farley of Altavista and many friends and extended family members.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, at Pisgah Baptist Church, Rice with the Rev. C. Earl Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 pm , Saturday at Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville.
