Mabel Higgins

Mabel Thomas Higgins, 90, went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2009. She was the daughter of Enoch and Rushie Bailey Thomas of Mars Hill, North Carolina, and the widow of Ernest Fred Higgins.

Mabel spent most of her adult life in Virginia where she enjoyed her home, family and serving the Lord. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Sheppards, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by, her husband, three daughters; Frances Rush, Barbara Runion and Shirley Banton, as well as on brother and one sister.

She is survived by one daughter, Doris Loveday of Pamplin, ten grandsons: David Loveday and wife, Jenette, Danny Loveday and wife, Linda, Dale Loveday and wife, Deanna, Christopher Rush and wife, Carmen, Kevin Banton and wife, Patsy, Ernest Banton, Eugene Banton, Jimmy Banton, Kenneth Banton, and Scott Runion, three granddaughters: Lisa Long and husband, Rob, Guyanna Ackison and husband, Brandon and Daphne Whitehurst, one son-in-law, Guy Runion of Dinwiddie, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, VA.
