Margaret Hamlett

October 22, 1915 — December 4, 2012

Margaret Newcomb Hamlett, 97 of Jetersville passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Farmville.  She was born October 22, 1915 to the late Charles C. and Carrie Poole Newcomb.  She was the widow of Clyde Hamlett.  Margaret was a long time member, over 70 years,  of Bethel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children; Doris Calhoun Pullen and husband, Ken of Fredericksburg, Edward Hamlett and wife, Doris Ann of Chesterfield and David Hamlett of Jetersville.  Also surviving are her two sisters, Martha Jenkins and Clara Newcomb both of Burkeville, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, Russell and her 8 siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 2:00pm at Bethel United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2012 6:00-8:00pm at the Shorter Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ray Pembelton 7691 Pembelton Drive, Amelia, VA 23002.  Shorter Funeral Home is serving the family.
