Patricia K. "Pat" Motley

Patricia K. "Pat" Motley, 72, of Keysville, VA died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 in Charlottesville, VA. She was the wife of the late Richard Dewey Motley.

Born in Osprey, Fla., Mrs. Motley was the daughter of the late Harold W. and Earldine Thompson Murphy. She was a professional typesetter with Longwood College and was retired as the Administrative Secretary to the President of South Florida Community College. She had also performed as a synchronized swimmer at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, Fla. She dearly loved her church, Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice, where she served over the years as Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader/Director and Choir Member.

Pat is survived by her daughter: Penny C. Motley Martin and husband, Charlie of Chesapeake, sister Carol Shumard of Lake Placid, Fla., sister-in-law, Eunice Motley Hamlett of Charlottesville, Cousin, Gary Mays and wife, Jolene of Palmetto, Fla. Her "Forever Friend", Mona Lou Lewis and special friends; Marilyn L. and George Davis, Judy and Ray Wooten and Phil and Peggy Templin. She is also survived by a host of other friends and her loving church family.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 in Pisgah Baptist Church, Rice, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
