Robert Dickinson

d. September 1, 2016

Robert Alexander Dickinson, 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Capital Caring Hospice Center in Arlington. The son of the late Alexander B. Dickinson and the late Helen D. Kuykendall and stepson of the late Jerome K. Kuykendall, Bob was born on September 22, 1952. A lifelong resident of Arlington, Bob attended Washington-Lee High School and George Mason University. He had a thirty-year career in the U.S. Government working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Bob was an avid Washington Redskins fan, a classic car and hot rod enthusiast, and was most at peace and ease when he could be on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean or the Chesapeake Bay. More than anything, family meant the most to Bob. He is survived by his loving sister, Donna D. Biegler and her husband, Antonius M. Biegler of Savannah, GA; stepsister, Penny Engel and her husband, Sam Sridhar Subramaniem of Washington, DC; and stepsister, Gretchen Jones of Silver Spring, MD. The role Bob relished more than any other was that of “Uncle Bob”, and he is survived by beloved nieces, Chelsea H. Biegler of Nashville, TN, Kendall A. Biegler of Savannah, GA, Monika B. Eyers of Mendham, NJ, and nephew, Jonathan M. Biegler of New York City, NY. A funeral was held Thursday, September 8, at Shorter Funeral Home, with burial at College Presbyterian Church, Hampden Sydney. Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, served the family
