Ruby Mae Rodgers

Ruby Turner Chapman Rodgers, 82, of Farmville, Virginia passed peacefully from this life on
October 17, 2023. Ruby was born to Ruben Turner and Carrie Branch Turner in Sussex County,
Virginia. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, she took pride in
her public service work at various grocery stores, her passion for softball, and her church family.

Ruby is preceded in death by her son Robert Chapman and husband John Rodgers. She is
survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones (Bo); Son, Donald (Lynni); daughter-in-law Donna
Chapman; sisters, Flora Cutchins, Jospehine Peffer, Ann Jones, and Jenny Holt. Ruby was
blessed with seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Wayne, Mikey, Rocky, Kasey, Joey, and Caleb; 19
great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
The visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Shorter
Funeral Home (1905 S Main St., Farmville, Virginia 23901). The funeral service will be held on
Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Worsham Baptist Church (6708 Farmville Rd.,
Farmville, Virginia 23901). A graveside service will follow at Hampden Sydney college.
