Teresa May Peterson, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 11, 2025, at home, surrounded by family. She was 73 years old.
Born on November 18, 1951, Teresa lived a life rooted in strength, independence, and love for the people and animals around her. She was a spirited outdoorswoman who found joy and peace in nature — whether she was casting a line, hunting in the woods, or caring for the many animals she loved: horses, ducks, chickens, guineas, peacocks, pheasants, rabbits, cats, and dogs. Some of her quietest joys came from simply watching the hummingbirds play outside her window and the deer wander through the yard she called home.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, James; their son, Christopher, and his wife Leslie; their grandchildren Brandon, Damian and his wife Erin, Joshua, and Taylor; their great-grandchildren Deacon and Declan; and extended family Angel Eggler and Rodney Gammon, Claire.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Willamar.
Her humor, honesty, and no‑nonsense spirit made her unforgettable. She could make you laugh, call you out, and warm your heart — sometimes all in the same sentence. Teresa loved her country deeply and carried that quiet pride with her every day, in both word and deed.
Teresa’s fierce love for her family, her country spirit, and her unwavering strength left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
