Virginia Almond

February 15, 1937 — March 10, 2010

Virginia "May" Almond, 73, of Farmville and Crewe, died unexpectedly March 10, 2010 in Chesterfield.

She was the daughter of Lloyd Leonard and the late Eleanor Beatty Leonard. She was formerly a correctional officer at Nottoway Prison and a waitress at Cedar Brook Restaurant in Farmville.

Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Terri Page (Robert Wayne)of Meherrin, Angela Holmes (Stanley) of Chesterfield and Kenny Swicegood (Jean) of Nottoway, three brothers, Sam Leonard of Rose Hill, Jimmy Leonard (Linda) of Crewe and David Leonard (Maxine) of Crewe, two sisters Linda Turner (Roy) of Crewe, and Joyce Edmonds of Courtland, four grandchildren, William, Stan, Brad and Sybil, four great-grandchildren and two god-children, Samantha and Kaitlyn.

She was preceded in death by her fiance, Danny Wilson and is survived by his children, Tracey Wilson, Becky Wilson and Renee Mann.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville. Interment will follow in Pamplin Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, Friday and from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
