Virginia Marie Silsby passed away peacefully in her home on July 10, 2026. She was born in DeSoto, MO on January 4, 1934. She attended Hillsborough High School where she graduated as valedictorian and married the love of her life, Robert F. Silsby. They lived in Tampa for 32 years where she worked with him at Midas Muffler and Brake Shops. After raising three kids and retiring from Midas, Virginia and Bob moved to Pamplin, VA where she became a CAN and worked for 22 years for Home Recovery, helping others and serving her community. She was a devoted member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Pamplin Chapter No. 58 Order of the Eastern Star.
Virginia is survived by her son Robert Silsby and wife Carol of Pamplin; daughter Susan Daily and husband Steve of Seffner, FL; daughter Janet Rivard (husband Joe, deceased) of Wesley Chapel, FL; sister Margaret Armbruster (husband Donald, deceased) of DeSoto, MO; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Freddie Whitehead and wife Faye of DeSoto, MO.
Virginia was happiest when gathered with those she loved, especially her family. Her generous spirit, loving heart, and steadfast devotion to her family and God will be remembered always.
A memorial service will be held on July 25, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Those wishing to honor Virginia’s memory are invited to make a donation in her name to Centra Hospice of Farmville, who made it possible for her to remain comfortable and surrounded by loved ones in her home.
