William "Bill" Montgomery

May 6, 1926 — July 11, 2015

William “Bill” G. Montgomery of Farmville, a world traveler, began his last and greatest trip Saturday, July 11, 2015. He was born May 6, 1926 in Akron, Ohio and was 89.

He served in the Navy during World War II and again during the Korean War. He earned his MBA from Kent State University and worked for a variety of companies as a salesman, sales manager, marketing manager, and vice president. His work allowed him to travel and he had the opportunity to visit all states in the United States, Europe, Japan, Thailand, Africa, Central and South America just to name a few. After his retirement from Stanley Vidmar in Allentown, PA, he chose to teach English in China a few years. He was also involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and was just a very generous spirit. Despite all his accomplishments his family brought him his greatest joy and his love for Jesus Christ gave him peace.

Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents, Homer U. and Annabelle Montgomery, his brothers, Homer and James “Jim” Montgomery both of Akron, Ohio, ex-wife, Bonnie Viesturs of Farmville, VA.

He is survived by three children, Melanie (George) M. Anderson of Farmville, Mark (Janet) W. Montgomery of Wolcott, CT and Elizabeth A. Coss of Fredericksburg; grandchildren, Amanda Anderson of Sacramento, CA, Brett Anderson of San Diego, CA, Brandon Anderson of Farmville, Mathew, Jennifer and Megan Montgomery all of Wolcott, CT, Richard (Trey) A. Coss, III of Clarkesville, TN, Bradley (Alea) N. Coss of El Paso, TX, and Sean C. Coss of Fredericksburg; great grandchildren, Brayden Coss, Dakota Coss, Bethany Coss and Owen Anderson; sisters, Margie(Walt) Nicholson of Silver Lake, OH, Marie O’Neil  of Monroe Falls, OH, and a special acknowledgement to his dear companion, Alice Haynes of Allentown, PA.

He was a charming, kind and generous man with a great sense of humor.
